This project involves the use of Bendix King LMH-3142, 30 watt Base/ Mobile Transceivers. This radios need to be hacked to be programmed. I do not have the programming cable so I made the programming switch built in. And as with my earlier DIY repeater project, this is squelched triggered and requires the use of a relay switch. I have 2 other Bendix King LMH-3142 on sale, un-tampered and without the modification for those who wish to experiment with these vintage radios. Help with this answer, Bendix LMH 3142 Ok all you Elmers out there. I am just becoming intrested in amature radio, I like to tinker with elctronics. Hold your laughs at this point but here is my question. I have recently acquired a Bendix/King LMH 3142. The radio has a key pad and is programable, however, I don't have the cable to enter the program mode. The frequencies are in the 148mhz to 170mhz. I would like to reprogram this down further into the 2 meter range say around the 144mhz range.
Is this possible and if so does anyone know how to enter the program mode without having the cable. I would sure appreciate any info at all, other then throw it away. Lol It works it picks up several channels, but not where I would like to listen in and learn the lingo.
I am studying for my Tech license. Thanks in advance.
