That Case IH 3650 baler makes a bale like the drum balers of Claas and Deutz do. It basically just rolls the hay around in a fixed chamber. It has belts around the out side rather than drums like the Claas and Deutz do. There is not pressure on the hay until the chamber is filled. The door is held shut with tension. So the bales have a soft core/center.
The bales will have a star shape in the center of them. ( look at the first picture it shows how the hay is handled) The second picture is of some soft core bales. I had a Claas that made a soft core. The hay kept well. You did not have a hard core.
You needed to make them as tight as you could because they would settle after they set. Also you have to watch handling them with a single center spear. They can roll of the spear. As far as what it has for a monitor. It would just tell you when the bale is done and when to tie.
It is not a very complicated baler. The Case IH 3650 baler was sold by IH and then CIH 1983-1988. They do not have a very high resale. The top is about $3500 for a 1988 in top shape. This is a NEw Idea baler painted Red. The New Idea model would be a 486.
I would rate them over a closed throat round baler but under a more tradtional belt baler. This post was edited by JD Seller at 21:45:59 09/20/13.
